Belgium
I was born in The Kingdom of Belgium, population 10.7 million. I'm from the northen part of Belgium, Flanders, and speak Flemish. The Walloons are French speakers and live in the southern part of Belgium. The Flemish and Walloons are known not to get along... I did not really keep up with my country's politics. Instead, my family packed it in and we headed to South Africa, landing in a strange place called...
Orange Free State
The Orange Free State. You might have heard of the word "Boer," at some point...we found ourselves in the midst of completely different politics this time, and in the company of many a boer! It was a strange and complex place to spend most of my childhood. My family continued their nomadic lifestyle and we spent time in many cities and countries, until I finally found my home in San Francisco.
San Francisco
Denim Jeans, Irish coffee and the Chinese Fortume Cookie were invented in San Francisco. The original name for San Francisco was Yerba Buena, meaning "good herb" or "good grass." The city is built on 43 hills. You have not been able to bury anyone in the city, since 1910. San Franciscans made friends with the fog. When the Coast Guard removed the bay's last foghorn, cries of protest soon brought it back.
Viola
I've been playing the violin and viola for longer than I can remember, and I compose music, DJ ocassionally and have been known to spend hours tweaking samples, loops, and interesting noises...
Music Technology
I love using several mediums to express and communicate things. Design seems to fit nicely with my other passions, music, photography and nature... my personal study includes interesting things, great art, and design.
Bach
I adore JS Bach. However... Beck, Biosphere, Björk and Bob Marley all start with "B" as well. Adding to my mile-long reading list, I aim to finish reading "Gödel, Escher & Bach", by Douglas Hofstadter in this lifetime...
